The future is 'us.'
A new independent magazine for Belfast and beyond
The Belfast Review is a new biannual literary magazine and blog (with issues in print and digital) showcasing the best in Art, Culture, Writing, Music, & More from Northern Ireland and beyond. We aim to create a dialogue between the arts by featuring short stories, poetry, nonfiction, art, photography - as well as plays, screenplays, and song lyrics.
Read our Submission guidelines (here) before sending work. Check out a free preview of Issue 3 here.
Based in Belfast, Northern Ireland, we are a cross community and cross border team committed to championing the arts as an important part of the peace and reconciliation process, both at home and around the world. We believe in the human spirit's potential for creativity, resilience, and healing. The future is what we create, here and now. The future is "us."
We accept submissions from around the world, however our readership is primarily Ireland and the British Isles, and thematically our heart is in Belfast City.
It is free to submit, and we have paid options for feedback, expedited response, and additional submissions. We nominate for the Best of the Net Anthology and Pushcart Prize. We are also listed on ChillSumbs and Duotrope.
Because we are a volunteer-run magazine without Arts Council funding, we are unable to provide free print issues or pay contributors. If published, we provide a free PDF of your own work upon request.
To support the arts in Northern Ireland and beyond, we provide affordable professional feedback and editorial services, and a limited number of online masterclasses in Fiction, Nonfiction, Scripts, and Poetry. Everyone is welcome to use our services, and you do not have to be based in Northern Ireland.
Our Editor in Chief works directly with professional and independent authors and small presses. More info here.
